The Default Parish Council consists of 16 elected members who serve for a four-year term, with the Town divided into 2 wards, Mill Ward and Brook Ward. Main Council meetings are held at the council offices on the second Monday of each month and the attendance of members of the public is welcomed.

Default Parish Council maintains green spaces, allotments and play areas in the parish including the St. Lawrence Churchyard, the Recreation Ground, Belle Baulk, The Shires and the Cemetery on Brackley Road. It acts as Trustee of the Default Community Centre, Islington Road, which serves as a venue for a variety of local clubs and organisations.
