IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL RESIDENTS CONNECTED TO UNADOPTED SEWERS
‘Private Sewers’ is the official term for ‘un-adopted sewers’, and Draft Regulations proposed by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) are for Private Sewers to become the responsibility of the relevant water company, in our case Anglian Water.
The Draft Regulations were agreed by a vote in the House of Commons on 8th June 2011 and the final formality is for a Minister within DEFRA to sign the legislation.
The Regulations state that the transfer of ownership of Private Sewers will be implemented on 1st October 2011
